Northern Talent Cup

The Northern Talent Cup enters its fourth season in 2023. A one-make series of teams and riders, the NTC uses the incredibly successful European Talent Cup as a blueprint. Riders aged between 14 and 17 compete across central and northern Europe, alongside the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship and IDM.

Each NTC round comprises two races, with the points system mirroring that of MotoGP™, and riders compete on the new KTM 250 Standard. ADAC provides a key aspect for the NTC, technical scrutineering, and Dorna staff are present at every round.

As part of the Road to MotoGP™, there is a place in the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup the following season up for grabs for the NTC rider(s) Dorna deems to have shown the most impressive progress and/or potential, and at least two NTC alumni take part in the Rookies Cup selection event on the Road to MotoGP™.

Three riders from the inaugural season of the NTC moved up: Champion Soma Görbe, Austrian Jakob Rosenthaler and German rider Freddie Heinrich, the latter selected by Dorna. From the class of 2021, two-time runner up Lorenz Luciano now races in the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup, and for 2023, runner up Kevin Farkas was the promoted rider.

 THE SERIES

For more than two decades, Dorna Sports has invested in opening the doors to motorcycle racing, creating the Road to MotoGP™. Comprising initiatives all over the world providing millions of young riders the opportunity to excel, the Road to MotoGP™ is unrivalled in motorsport – opening doors, increasing access and racing towards global equality.

The Northern Talent Cup is intended to give riders from northern and central European countries a new path on the Road to MotoGP™, designed as the perfect stepping stone into the Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship and/or Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup. The NTC is designed to create close competition in a cost-effective manner, including the calendar. Riders of all nationalities can apply, but the Cup is aimed at riders from northern and central Europe.

The NTC is run by Dorna Sports, the organiser of the MotoGP™ World Championship, the Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship and the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, as well as co-organiser of the R&G British Talent Cup and Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup.
